Just thought I'd ask people what other search engines do you use? Or maybe what other search engines do you get traffic from? Let us know.

I've tried a few times to get myself intothe dmoz list, but without success. From what I've read, getting yourself on their list can be very helpful. I've also tried to host a forum on about, but have not been accepted there either.

Don't be disappointed in not getting on About.

I was accepted. The list of articles they wanted was entirely different from what I applied for and off my topic.

I asked a friend about her experience. She worked hard writing articles for the site and received pennies.

You'd make more selling a house--in less time!

Joy,

Jeanette

Traffic, the only one that matters is G for now. That might change, but something big will have to happen.

I use all three based on my mood, I say all three because IMO there are only 3 players at this point; Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

From what I have heard from overseas friends, alot use altavisa as well. Might be worth a look into if you cater to overseas customers. I know I use altavista from time to time.

I mostly use Google and Yahoo, but I do use all of them from time to time, mainly because I'm checking rankings on sites and indexing.

It will be perfect if you list your web site in DMOZ because it is a human edited search engine and it is really hard to get over there. The good thing is that if you got listed there you will get a higher ranking for sure. I have tried to submit our web site a couple of times but unfortunately we were not listed. At least you can try!

That is old news. It used to be a listing would get you a nice jump in rankings, but not as much these days.

a very interesting site I've found recently: http://keotag.com/
you just tipe in a keyword, and get results from 18 different sites. They're mainly social bookmarking or picture sharing sites, so this is not really a real search engine, just goes through sites providing real content.
