Just wondering if anyone is generating leads with newspaper ads? And if so, would you be willing to share what's working for you?

Used to have great results and could do a deal for every $350 spent, now the ads are worthless. The last $600 I spent didn't even bring in a call...not doing anymore. IMO you are much better off investing in online advertising, and increasing the advertising to your SOI.

Ken,

Thanks for the info. Just wondering, do you use a call caputre system like an 800#?

The paper ads are oversaturated!!!!

People don't look at them because there are just to many! But there is a way to make people look at them: you need a creative design.

No, really!. Basicaly, people will stop and stare an ad that calls her attention, you just need to stablish wich target do you want to get and then work on them, do research and come up with a good design that could reach that target.

The best luck!

teamsage - we do not use a call capture system anymore. It will increase your calls if you use the correct type of ads, but the leads are very low quality. Plus you really freak some people out by calling them back when they didn't leave a number. BTW, we used to use this so it's from past experience.

Rachel - Not sure what market you are in but I don't know any print adverting that is "oversaturated". Most are only a small piece of what they had been years ago. Just there are fewer and fewer eyeballs reading any form of print advertising. Can't tell you the last time I read a newspaper, my parents and even my grandparents have canceled their subscriptions and get their news online now.

Just reading through the thread - very interesting. I worked selling ad space for a newspaper a couple years ago, and we could already see the decline. What about the internet - anyone using interactive media to support business or reach new customers? And how?

There's a new goofy online service meant to engage small businesses and help them attract new customers. It's called the Jingle Generator and it allows you to type or phone in your company info, and in minutes you can create a funny, self-promotional jingle.

They're hosting it at http://www.thejinglegenerator.com

You're probably thinking how silly this sounds, and that's exactly what they're going for. Would you use this type of interactive media to market your business?
