Wordpress is a great platform to start a blog. I use wordpress on my blog and it is a easy platform to learn. I host my blog on my own server and recommend that you do the same if you can. This way all the content that you add to your blog is fresh content for your own site and not content for the wordpress site.
Wordpess is really a great Content Management System, I have gone as far as to turn a wordpress site into a real estate site. You can see an example of this Brentwood Real Estate site. There are some great real estate plugins out on the internet that I used for this site. It still is getting some info added to it but all in all it is almost done. _________________ Thanks for joining US Real Estate Directory !!! I am new to Wordpress but so far it seems fairly straight foward. It was very easy to set up with my hosting company since it was included in fantastico, there are tons of templates floating around out there and my posts seem to rank well in Google. I would highly recommend it. _________________ Jeffrey Funk

So it's a lot worse if you have the blog on the wordpress site, because it makes traffic for them, not for my site?
are there some disadvantages if you are just a subdomain of wordpress?
I mean does it affect the search engine rankings?
I've heard only good things about wordpress so far, so I'm probably going to test it later this month. |

Wienne,
It's not that it hurts you. If you are blogging and linking back to your main site it's good because you are getting links to your site. It's just content is one really strong way to help your rankings on the search engines. So my thought is, if you are going to take the time to blog, it would be better if it was on your site. Every blog post is a new page to your site and the more and more content you have on your site the more the search engines will crawl it and the better you will rank.

Active Rain is a great place to start a blog if you can't put one on your own site. The Active Rain blogs are ranking really well with the search engines so if you blog on there and link to your site from your blog posts it will help your placement in the search engines.
You can also link to your site from your profile page, and if you comment on other posts your profile will get indexed. You can also write a blog post on my blog, just register and login to the control panel and you can write a post, it's a great way to get a couple links to your site. |

I know this is an older blog but it is a good question. Wordpress is a great platform. There are dozens and dozens of templates and the user interface has gotten really easy. Plus you can set up a free account. _________________ Boise Idaho Real Estate Services and find what I think about Boise at Boise Idaho Blog |
