Impression is every time your ad is shown. With PPC (Pay Per Click) you will have impressions and clicks. Not every time your ad is shown does someone click on it.

Sharon, Gary is right and in case you are deciding whether to start a PPC campaign or not you will find that packages charge per click or impression.
Use caution with either one because you can spend a lot of money really fast if you don't set things up right and set daily budgets.
Anyhow, I just thought I would offer my 2 cents.
If you have other questions or concerns about PPC please post, I enjoy that topic or any search engine related topic.
