I see so many agent blogs which are only listings of a property. Why do agents do this? Marketing? Web presence? What is it?
I understand, not everyone knows how to blog (conceptually) or maybe doesn't have alot to say or know how to say it or write it. That's understandable, and with a little education and practise can overcome this easily.
I don't understand why someone would take the time to make a blog, yet not take the time to make the blog informative or useful to the reader?
Do agents find these types of blogs useful for selling properties? Perhaps I have the whole blogging thing wrong and don't understand the concept?

I don't believe advertising your listings as the only content of your blog is a good use of your blog. I do think that maybe some agents are using their blog advertising as a listing too (thought I don't agree that is works). On the other hand, if you are adding your listings to the end of an informative blog I think that concept is a fantastic deal.
For example, if you are writing a blog about shout sales and at the end of your blog you advertise a short sale listing, I think that's a great idea.
Not to sound harsh, but the internet in general is a new instrument to real estate agents (To Some Agents That Is) and some agents don't even have an idea of how to send attachments in their email. That being said, do you think they have a clue on how to properly use a blog?
I think the key to blogging is consistency. I kind of look at it like farming. You have to keep content current and in a steady flow. It doesn’t matter if it’s once a month or once a day. I have found my blog to be not as successful as I had planned, but yet again I do not post every week. My plan is to start posting every week with informative blogs and see if I can generate more readers. If you would like to take a look at my blog it can be found at http://www.teamsagehomes.com/real-estate-blog.asp .
I do not claim to be an expert on blogging, but I have read a lot about it and hope to make my blog successful in 2008.
Hope this helps. _________________ Troy Sage - Realtor - e-PRO
