Selling Your Own Home

August 11, 2008 on 7:35 pm | In General | No Comments

People are successfully selling their own homes these days. If you are considering such a chore then it makes sense to learn from others that have done it. If you know of someone personally then you should talk to them and get their take on the situation. They may recommend not doing it because it was a terrible experience or they may tell you it was a piece of cake and you would be crazy not too. If you decide to sell your own home it is critical to know the legal aspects of doing so. If you are uncertain of the local real estate law there are resources available such as FSBO or local real estate agents. Local agents, typically, are glad to answer your questions if you are upfront with your intentions. Maybe take them out to lunch and if they do a good job for you consider referring them to friends that don’t want to sell their home themselves. A large percentage of real estate agents’ business is referral so they will more likely than not help you out.

Cost Considerations When Selling Your Home

August 7, 2008 on 4:04 pm | In General | No Comments

Homes are worth thousands to millions of dollars and when selling them it can be nerve racking and chin dropping to see what a real estate agent makes on the sale of a home. Real estate agents can make between 2% to 6% on any particular real estate transaction. This typically totals several thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands. So when it comes to homeowners selling their homes themselves it is this one factor that deters them from using a real estate agent.

It is important to remember that it takes money to sell a home. Depending on the property and the extent of the marketing campaign it could cost thousands. Another cost consideration that needs to be addressed is whether or not buyers whom are represented by a real estate agent will be allowed to negotiate for the sale of your home. It is common that the seller pays the commission for the buyer. This could be up to 3% of the sale price. As you can see, depending on what you decide to do, it doesn’t take much to start diminishing the savings of not using a real estate agent.

“In My Opinion” at BoiseRealEstateInfo.net has just released its new bi-monthly article: 2008: A Perfect Storm of Economic Catastrophes for the USA

T. Boone Pickens is a seasoned investor and market observer– and one of the nation’s most legendary oil industry tycoons. His name is synonymous with the oil business. But in July of 2008 he began running expensive ads on primetime TV. His message is straightforward. He explains that he has been in the oil business for many decades, and that dependence on foreign oil is killing the USA. He says we need to invest in solar power and wind power. He is essentially condemning and getting out of the business he is famous for engaging in over the past decades. Soon we can expect the whole nation to do a similar 180-degree turnaround, as we adopt a new vision and strategy for going forward. Americans will emphasize saving over spending, conservative investments over get-rich-quick schemes, and conservative conventional mortgages over exotic high-risk loans…
